Oldies, fireworks highlight Familyfest 2003

RIVERVIEW — The city is using Saturday’s Cruisin’ Downriver as the centerpiece of Riverview Familyfest 2003, sandwiching it between a wide variety of attractions Friday and Sunday in Young Patriots Park.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, come to the park for a free twilight concert by oldies legend the Diamonds as the band officially opens cruise festivities.

Afterward, stay for the city’s annual holiday fireworks show at 10 p.m.

On Sunday, the park will be hopping from not long after dawn until way past dusk, beginning with the All-American Fishing Derby from 9 to 11 a.m.

It will be followed by the T-ball parade and opening day, the third annual In-line Tournament finals, free kids’ carnival games, carnival rides, paddleboat rides, vendors, crafters and free bicycle registration, winding up with movies in the park at dusk.

For more information and exact times, call the Recreation Department at 1-734-281-4263.

If golf’s your game, residents can play free all day Sunday at Riverview Highlands Golf Course. Tee times required. Call 1-734-479-2266.
